Entangled as we are in ideas of freedom, desire, and identity, we create myths that transform and solidify the world around us. he his own mythical beast is a performance installation centered around Venus, a personification of the fierce, elusive heart of contradictions inherent in race, gender, and sexuality in American society—part beast, part myth, part clown; discomfiting, intriguing, comforting, funny, and sad. A code-shifting chimera set in a voyeuristic nest of narratives that contemplate our ideas of self and other.

“… protean physical and vocal skills … luminous … whose voice, brain, and moves are among the genuine treasures of the downtown scene.” — Elizabeth Zimmer, Village Voice

“fluid, episodic dancing … characterized by hinging, rippling phrases.” — New York Times
