Mount Tremper Arts, in its ninth year of programming, deepened its commitment towards supporting the innovative, contemporary performance works with the Watershed Laboratory, a programing model that incorporated year-round residencies, presenting activities, and institutional partnerships. Guided by the metaphor of the Catskill Mountains as the watershed for New York City, the Watershed Lab positioned MTA as the artistic headwaters for partnering organizations downstream: artworks developed here through residencies, performances, and institutional partnerships would gather momentum as they traveled to NYC and beyond.

The first Watershed Laboratory season ran between July 16 – December 10th, 2016, and included work by DarkMatter (Spoken Word), 600 HIGHWAYMEN (Theater), Yackez (Dance), David Thomson (Dance), AmeriSHOWZ (Dance/Theater), and Composer Ashley Fure with Jim Findlay and The International Contempory Ensemble (New Music). Partnerships included Abrons Arts Center, The Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival, New York Live Arts, Performance Space 122, Gibney Dance, and The Collapsable Hole.
