The 4th annual Mount Tremper Arts Summer Festival, featured a multi-disciplinary line-up of leading contemporary performing and visual artists appearing over seven weeks from July 9 – August 21, 2011. At MTA, audiences experienced an exciting laboratory space where artists created and presented new works while surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of the Catskill Mountains and MTA’s innovative hybrid food and art events.
This year, we hit our truly interdisciplinary stride: The visual art exhibition Productive Steps looked at the performance of art-making; Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company performed a deconstruction of feminist theory. Brian Rogers staged live films; Melinda Ring created dance inspired by a film by Dan Graham; and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) plays music for toy piano interspersed with video. Plus, writers from the Brooklyn Rail explored writing-as-performance, sharing the stage with artists that dissolved distinctions between performance and writing.
