2010

The 3rd Annual Mount Tremper Arts Festival offered internationally acclaimed and rigorously experimental performing and visual arts. The festival opened with a free event on July 10 featuring members of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and the new music string quartet, ETHEL.  Other highlights included 2010 Guggenheim Award- winning choreographer Miguel Gutierrez and the photography exhibition, Seven Summits, featuring acclaimed photographers Shannon Ebner and Roe Ethridge.

In the spirit of interdisciplinary exchange, the festival hosted weekly Saturday night performances featuring leading contemporary choreographers as well as a summer-long guest artist. Each event was followed by an opportunity to talk informally with the artists outside in front of a campfire.  New this year, MTA hosted Friday Night Food for the Arts Barbecues.  These integrated informal music and dance performances, contextual discussions, and a community barbecue meal, often grown from the MTA garden, allowing audiences and artists to converse and enjoy the grounds.
